Lucy Williams is a commercial photographer shooting portrait and lifestyle brand photography for creatives and creative teams, and businesses and brands both big and small. She works with clients in London, Bristol, Bath and across the UK.

After many hours spent in the darkroom as a teen’, developing her love of colour and portraiture during a Fine Art Painting degree in Birmingham, and driving all over the UK, camera in hand, working as a TV & Film Location Manager Lucy now brings everything together with an eye for light and location, and a great skill for putting people at their ease whilst bringing out their personality.

Lucy‘s work has been published widely, including in Vogue Online, Forbes, The Financial Times, Condé Nast Traveller, Grazia Magazine Grazia Daily, Hello, Elle, Stylist, BBC, ITV and The Guardian, amongst others.

Clients include Tesco’s, Swarovski, Lloyd’s Bank, Somethin’ Else Media, Phrasee, Miloco Studios, The British Museum, Royal Academy and a wonderful collection of lifestyle businesses and brands including personal coaches, artists, musicians and homeware and interior designer specialists.

Her portrait work has won awards and was shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography with Magnum Photos ‘Portrait of Humanity’ 2019 and exhibited as part of the ‘Portrait Salon’ 2018 . In 2020 she was shortlisted for the ‘Soul to Soul’ Small Business Award and she was named on the F:Entrepreneur 100 list celebrating entrepreneurial business women.

Lucy lives in Wiltshire with her husband Chris and their cat Betsy. When she's not taking photographs she'll be drinking coffee somewhere lovely, bravely attempting DIY, re-wilding the garden, or out walking and foraging for seasonal goodies to make into jam, chutney or very potent wine.

ON THE ‘GRAM…

On International Women’s Day I’m thinking of, and celebrating, all of the women boundary-breakers past and present and all of the women in my life, from friends and family to clients and colleagues #sisters who make such a difference 🙌 The theme for #IWD this year is #choosetochallenge 🤚 and I’m particularly saluting women in creative industries. Those changemakers that have made it possible for women to be working in the arts and creative industries today. And to the women still pushing boundaries and making so many things possible for women and the world in the future 🙌 When I started in film and photography I had at least 3 interviews where I was told I wouldn’t get the job because I was a girl (I remember a particularly galling interview at the BBC! I fought back so hard and got the job in the end!) In the whole scheme of things, it wasn’t really that long ago so I was thrilled to be on a number of shoots last year with @somethinelsesocial where nearly everyone in the crew was female. Times have changed and are a-changing and the world is a better place for it. Here’s to the women (and men) who keep challenging what’s possible. Nicola Brown is a Design Consultant and has an amazing eye for space, form, colour and stylish decor. Back to work and shooting #portraits, from a distance of course! #covidsafetymeasures Portraits were my first love, I used to spend hours as a kid drawing and painting people. At art college I learnt that people are no different to apples 🍎 😂 Light-wise, that is!! It’s always about finding #goodlight and using both light and #shadow to best effect. Then, with people, there’s the added element of #emotion, #feeling, #poetry and #connection with the camera/ viewer. ... This lovely gent was shy and said he didn’t photograph well. I disagree! He has a beautiful calm about him. ... This was taken on the hottest, and brightest, day of the year so far. The sun was glaring even at 10am. When #lockdown was announced we were in the middle of #movinghouse. We got the go ahead to complete & move at the very last minute and, though it was stressful at the time, moving during lockdown has given us the space to unpack and #DIY. ... The #kitchen was old so we decided to paint everything - perfect solution if you’re on a budget. As you know, I love #interiordecor & #interiorphotography so this was a wonderful #furloughed #lockdownproject for me :) Hard work but so very rewarding! Photographing the finished look was a joy! Apart from the obvious worries, I’m secretly enjoying lockdown and the space it’s created. Everything feels far more ‘local’ and I’ve made some lovely connections with new neighbours and people in the community - all from at least 2 metres away of course!
